The IGC Committee voted not to endorse the proposal to take an IGC on an SA-sponsored chip. The reasoning of the Committee is the following:
“We feel this matter is appropriately addressed by the autonomous local groups. We suggest that if further action is desired, that the standing conference committee commission or sponsor a chip. In reaching this decision, we were guided by the example of Alcoholics Anonymous, which does not sponsor an official chip, but leaves it up to the individual groups to select whatever chip they wish.”
Thus, the Committee encourages groups to exercise autonomy in the spirit of Tradition Four, wherein the power of choice resides. (Tradition Four: “Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or Sexaholics Anonymous as a whole.”)
