SS(F) - (F) - In the Mist of the Fellowship

In the Midst of the Fellowship

The Fellowship’s Support and accountability helped her take responsibility for her recovery and embrace the Program.

I was an 18-year-old girl, broken and abandoned, who had experienced many destructive relationships. I was very confused about my career, education, and family, and felt hopeless about the future.

Masturbation wouldn’t leave me, and the only good part of my life was my fantasies. Every time I tried to take a step forward, I would fail because I didn’t know how to respect my limits or boundaries. I repeated the same mistakes, driven by resentment, anger, and intense emotions.

I was introduced to the Fellowship through a close family member, and I completely embraced the Fellowship’s guidelines. I relapsed the first month, but then finally made up my mind to commit to the Program. I have been sober since September 16, 2023. Along the way, I changed several step guides and found friends my own age with common concerns and issues in the Fellowship.

I said goodbye to many of my colleagues and friends outside the Fellowship because they were jeopardizing my sobriety. I made progress in my education and income, and my goals became clearer. My relationships with my family, colleagues, and friends improved, and new, healthy people entered my life.

It is true that life’s challenges never end, but I am learning to remain calm in the midst of them. I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but just for today I am grateful to God for being in the Fellowship.
