These 12 suggestions were beneficial and very useful to me and our fellowship. I believe they have helped us to stay focused and committed to working the solution, like the first 100 members of AA did. I thought the fellowship might find it of interest.
- Practice, and emphasize at meetings the vital importance of having an SA sponsor. Good sponsorship and working the Steps are vital for a healthy, growing SA fellowship. Emphasize sobriety, sponsorship and working the Steps.
- Read, at every meeting, from approved SA and AA literature, especially the SA White Book, Recovery Continues, the AA Twelve and Twelve, and the AA Big Book.
- Have a greeter or greeters to welcome members with a smile!
- Start meetings on time.
- Pick the meeting leader in advance so he or she may be prepared.
- At sharing meetings, pick a topic, so discussions may be focused.
- Emphasize the solution over the problem and “dumping.”
- Have First Step meetings once a month from sober members, or listen to an SA conference tape.
- Pass the basket a second time to donate funds to the SA Central Office (or give a certain amount of group funds) to support the growing worldwide fellowship.
- Maintain the 30-day rule for early sharing.
- Pray, Pray, Pray, on your own and with other members in your group for your local meetings and the fellowship.
- Encourage after meeting fellowship and intergroup support and service.
