[The following is from a letter dated January 21, 1991 from the Boulder, CO Monday Night Meeting. They expressed the wish that “any or all of this letter be published in Essay.”]

Our meeting has been deliberating for the past three months whether to continue its affiliation with Sexaholics Anonymous, or whether to change to one which is more like the kind of recovery which we have found through our experiences with the 12 Step, 12 Tradition process.… We realized that we needed to “accept the things which we cannot change” and gradually saw that our individual recoveries could better be served by affiliating with a fellowship which is more like what our beliefs have become over the years. …we determined that we were most like Sex Addicts Anonymous.… 75% voted in favor of the change, 8% against, and 17% abstained…this is being viewed as the “conscience” of the group.… We hereby give notice of withdrawing our affiliation with Sexaholics Anonymous.…
