…Things are going well with our Monday night meeting here in Grand Junction. We fluctuate in size as people try us out. Not everyone is ready for the work and honesty required for healing. We pray God will lead them there eventually.
We have received a new order of the new edition of the Big Book. Obviously, much work has gone into this. We are grateful for the dedication it represents. We are profiting greatly by our study.
One comment we wanted to make about the book’s contents was our surprise at the deletion of the section on narcissism from page 28 of our old “white book.” Many in our group had profited from those words and thought them very helpful, accurate, and powerful. We wondered why this was left out? Also, we wondered if, according to our Traditions, the organization shouldn’t have been consulted in any deletions or additions?

[The section of the old SA manual titled “Characteristics of the Addict,” which includes “Narcissism,” was deleted by unanimous vote of the Literature Committee. It was the only section derived largely from published sources. Members and groups may obtain copies of this deleted material from the old SA book or the Central Office and use it as they wish.—Ed.]
