SA CFC

The CFC committee is declaring 2022 to be the Year of CFC. The purpose of this declaration is to highlight the importance of the work which CFC does to help our friends in prison and to bring attention and garner support by the SA membership. To accomplish this, each region is asked to increase awareness and attention on the effort to help our friends and emphasize the help necessary to share the message of sobriety. Each region is encouraged to hold quarterly meetings and communicate ways to help our friends in need.

The CFC committee is asking each region, intergroup and groups to make “The Year of CFC 2022” a theme of service at their conferences, conventions and one day events. We would like to see each region hold special events quarterly featuring speakers who give testimony of their experience of helping friends. In some cases, it may be members who have served time in prison. Also, members sharing their testimony through correspondence and visitation to prisons. In addition, it may be helpful to show videos of testimony of friends in prison or prison chaplains.

In conjunction with these meetings, regions and intergroups should ask members to make Seventh Tradition contributions to help CFC send books free of charge to friends in need and prison libraries. This can be done at the end of a CFC presentation, at a workshop or a convention, or by virtual contributions in a webinar at sa.org/donate.

Intergroups should ask their member groups to hold workshops on corresponding with friends in prison. Groups should be encouraged to raise funds for books to be sent to friends requesting them. Each intergroup is urged to have their groups hold special events and seminars emphasizing the importance of helping friends in need. Inviting guest speakers is a way of stimulating interest.

The mission of CFC should be brought up at every meeting and convention during 2022. All regions and groups are encouraged to plan programs to run throughout the year. This needs to be a carefully planned effort. It is important for each region and intergroup to have a CFC representative who can attend meetings and emphasize the importance of helping friends in prison. This needs to be a fully coordinated effort from the region level down.

All regions and intergroups can reach out to members of the CFC committee for help and support. The committee will be glad to offer suggestions and words of encouragement. Our members are willing to talk at meetings through Zoom. We welcome all thoughts and ideas to make this a successful year.
