SA Spring Convention in Britain

I have just returned from SA U.K.’s Spring Convention, held at The Grail, Pinner, fired with a deep sense of the True Connection — the title of the event. Thirty sober SAs attended, men and women, including one S-Anon and visitors from Ireland, Germany and the U.S. Our sessions seemed to develop naturally through the Steps to the Traditions, giving a tremendous boost to my own personal recovery with a strong sense of what its whole purpose is: to carry the message. Reports on group health were heard from our main centers: London area (five meetings); Bristol area (three meetings); Leeds/Manchester area (one meeting); and from our visitors’ meetings: Waterford, Ireland; Karlsruhe, Germany; and Boston, USA.

Our loner outreach stretches to individuals in Spain, Romania, Scotland, and Ireland, with those involved literally overflowing with the rewards such distance sponsorship brings them. The sobriety countdown demonstrated powerfully that not only are sexaholics in these islands getting sober, but are increasingly staying sober as well!

We also had a lot of fun with massed guitars, vocals, special effects, trivial pursuit, dancing, football and charades, and simply taking in the beauty of the place. Our next residential event, under the title “Pass It On,” will be held in rural Somerset over the weekend of September 27-29, 1996. [See Calendar of Events, p. 2.]
