What’s Going On in SA

Excerpts from Minutes of Board of Trustees

Two duly, newly elected bodies of SA share similar names, the Oversight Assembly and the Oversight Committee. This has resulted in confusion on the part of the members and those dealing with these two bodies.

To clear up the confusion, in deference to AA, and in consideration of terms suitable to the State of Tennessee, in which SA is incorporated, the name “Board of Trustees” was chosen for the Oversight Committee. The Board is elected by the Assembly for the purpose of overseeing the daily workings of the fellowship, Central Office, and the various committees.

Delegates to the Assembly are elected by the Regional Assembly to attend the twice a year Oversight Assembly. This has now been renamed the General Delegate Assembly. The Assembly considers fellowship-wide issues, matters affecting SA as a whole.

For more information on these bodies and their functions, please refer to the General Service Structure article published in Essay.

In administrative action, the resignation of Barry W. was accepted and his replacement, Michael B., welcomed. Staggered terms for the first Board were determined so that new trustees will be elected annually by the General Delegate Assembly.

Current committee reports were heard and new committees were formed. New committees include: Finance, Internet, Legal, International, and Essay.

Qualifications for and duties of nonsexaholic members of the Board were discussed. To date, only two partial applications have been received. This matter will be reviewed by the General Delegate Assembly in Chicago.

Several literature projects were discussed and the need for funds to underwrite publication.

An urgent appeal to the fellowship for assistance in many areas is to appear in the next Essay. [See below.]
