…Kansas City was wonderful! What a high and how truly God-given it was to make the connection with fellow sex drunks from all over the world. I was on a “pink cloud” for a week or so afterwards and I’ve made some friends that I never had before. God was telling me through all the wonderful people there, that I was finally home and that my primary addiction is lust.

Now I can fully understand the enthusiasm and hope, which were expressed from SA members in the comments to the Retreats you had in the U.S.A. Let me tell you some personal thoughts about our convention we had last weekend in Karlsruhe and what I experienced there.…

What a marvelous time we had in New York City April 26th! And Cleveland May 3rd! Two one-day SA happenings. The get-togethers got us together. It seems to happen every time.

Tom O. reports that twenty people attended the May 3rd SA Marathon at St. Peter’s church in Cleveland. This included three women, and areas represented were Rochester, Detroit, Toledo, Dayton, and Cleveland.

When sending checks to the Central Office without any correspondence, would you please make a memo on the check saying whether it’s a donation, literature purchase, or whatever. Also, if you’re sending payment for a literature order someone else in the group made, would you please let us know? Our records indicate the name of the person placing the order, not always the group.

A.A., of San Angelo, TX, reports: “This group has come into being on its own. One of the member’s AA sponsor told him to talk to me about SA. At the time, he told me there would be no way he could meet in a mixed group. Well, tonight he celebrated his sixth week of sobriety!

D.K., of Stamford, CT, tells us: “I think that every time any of us carries the message to a newcomer, each of us founds SA anew. Each of us does this to save ourselves, to learn a way of life in between the misery of succumbing, and the agony of resisting, a way of life that is peaceful and free from lust.

N.J., of Macon, GA, says: “…The other $60.00 is $20.00 each for November, December, and January with love, to carry the SA message. We now have one man who has six months’ sobriety. We have had four members for the last three months. We remember you often in our prayers.”

P.C., of Arlington, VA, reports: “Things seem to be going pretty well here in the Washington, DC, area. That is to say, we now have SA groups meeting on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. The largest of these seems to be the Thursday group with about 18-20 members, followed by Saturday and Tuesday with about 8-10.

F.H., of Pharr, TX: “Greetings from SA in South Texas. We are still here. (Small—but still here.)…”

M.G., of Larned, KS, reports: “First off, we are a new SA group. At present we have two members and one social worker (sits in but does not talk—he’s learning).

S.J., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, writes, “I enjoyed everyone being here for the Retreat. It was a real spiritual high for me. Thanks for coming.”

The number of S-Anon inquiries to the SA Central Office has been steadily increasing, along with the SA inquiries. Usually, wives of sexaholics call or write in asking for help. From the beginning of SA, we have been referring them to the closest group or individual with whom they can talk or meet.

Are you including Traditions Meetings in your local meeting schedules? We’re finding increasingly a need to study the Twelve Traditions as part of our group process of recovery. Some groups will alternate once a month in the Step Study meeting by holding one meeting a month on the Traditions, reading from the Twelve and Twelve one Tradition and then sharing it (see enclosed paper regarding meetings).

T.H., of Lothian, Maryland, writes, “Last night I twelve-stepped a young woman; I drove sixty miles to talk with her for fifteen minutes. She identified strongly with our first step; God and sobriety helped me convey the message simply and sincerely. The joys of recovery outweigh the necessary pain that accompanies it. I am beginning to laugh and dance again in my sweet relationship with my Lord.…

R.K., of Simi Valley, California, writes, “…Speaking for myself, I see that the great key to my serenity and recovery and sobriety is anchored in the realization of my powerlessness over my lust. This powerlessness — just as true today as it was nine years and ten months ago — is what energizes my surrender of my lust and other defects to the only One who has the Remedy.

J.M., in Salina, Kansas, says, “I’m still working on my sexual sobriety. The meeting in Salina folded due to some people playing with the program. I hope to get some real interested people and start again. Thank you from my heart.”

R.L., of Rochester, New York, writes, “I drive 40 miles on Sunday afternoon to a small SA meeting in Clifton Springs. I was there today and was given the copy of ESSAY by another member who said there was an article about hate in it from R.S., of Marina del Rey, California. Thank God there is someone who was able to put into words how I feel. Hate has totally consumed my life ever since I can remember.
