I first heard about prison meetings from a member who started prison contact through the Gideon Society in Georgia. He told me that I would have to take a course in order to qualify to enter prisons. I then heard from a prison chaplain who was running a number of recovery programs that he would be interested in running an SA program too.
I was born in New York City in 1942, and now live in Atlanta, Georgia. I have been a sexaholic for as long as I can remember. I joined SA on July 20, 2012, and have been sexually sober from then to now.
My name is Leo W., and I'm a grateful, recovering sexaholic. I've been sober by the grace of G-d and the help of all of you in this program of SA since April 7th, 2019. My homegroup is Crystal City, Virginia, USA.
This being the year of the CFC, we are highlighting the value of the SA program for members inside correctional institutions.
The CFC committee is declaring 2022 to be the Year of CFC. The purpose of this declaration is to highlight the importance of the work which CFC does to help our friends in prison and to bring attention and garner support by the SA membership.
Dear Essay, I am an incarcerated member due to my lust/pornography addiction, sober by the grace of God and SA since Dec 11, 2019. I have been very blessed to remain in contact with my SA sponsor allowing me to complete the Steps and start working on the Traditions. Many sexaholics in prison are not as blessed as I am.
My sponsor defined “insight” as having an understanding of my behaviors. So, to me, having an understanding of why I am addicted to lust and sex has been a huge eye-opener.
No one as a child growing up ever thinks they might one day end up in jail or as a sexaholic. Yet, that’s what happened to me. I am a female sexaholic, sober since January 19, 2020.

At a large Saturday morning meeting of our 12-Step program your sponsor read your First Step letter. It resonated with me, and I want to give back to the fellowship by writing my share to you.
