Dear ESSAY,
Hello, my name is Jason A., and I have been an active member of SA since 2020.

In Luke’s article, “The Carousel of Self”, he describes the back-and-forth, the ups and downs of living in selfishness. There seems to be no steady flow of peace in the attempt to always stay “up”.

SA has been a source of great strength and recovery during a time when all hope seemed lost.

The ESSAY’s December edition is “Amends: Straightening Out the Past”. We will be exploring the challenges that we faced when approaching this step that can sometimes be intimidating.

You are invited to read this “Editor’s Corner” in your home group during announcements.

In June, she presented Part One, the challenges of women in SA. Now she will focus on the solution as we know it today.

Following the suggestion in the literature to accept outside help when needed was a deeper Step Three that drew her closer to God.

Step Three remained ineffective until getting unblocked from taking Steps Four through Nine.

Taking other people’s temperature was a gateway into lustful intrigue.

This test always gives him the correct indication of being in God’s will or in self.

People-pleasing and true selflessness were two very different things that were not compatible with each other.

Shrinking his inflamed ego became possible by generously applying the solution of humility.
