Ich kontaktierte im Juni 2017 ein AS-Mitglied als Antwort auf seine E-Mail, die ich zwei Monate zuvor erhalten hatte, und wusste, dass mein zwanghaftes Verhalten ein Problem war. Jeden Tag befriedigte ich meine „Bedürfnisse“ wie ein Automat, der darauf programmiert ist, immer wieder die gleichen Suchvorgänge durchzuführen. Ich habe immer wieder versucht, die schreckliche Leere zu füllen, die mein geheimes Leben seit Ewigkeiten verbarg.

Das Kapitel im Weißen Buch mit dem Titel „Lüsternheit – die Kraft hinter der Sucht“ ist meiner Ansicht nach eine großartige Einführung in die Grundlagen dessen, worum es bei der Lüsternheit wirklich geht. In diesem Kapitel definiert Roy Lüsternheit als „eine Haltung, die verlangt, dass ein natürlicher Instinkt unnatürlichen Wünschen dient“. Das war jedenfalls meine Erfahrung. Irgendwann während meiner Highschool-Zeit entdeckte ich die Masturbation und die Pornografie.

Einer unserer Freunde im Gefängnis, Raphael S., der in den letzten Jahren zwei Artikel im ESSAY veröffentlicht hat, hat ein AS-Treffen im Staatsgefängnis von Virginia gestartet. Er sponsert einen anderen Mitinsassen. Es ist bedeutungsvoll für sie, Teil der Gemeinschaft zu sein, auch wenn sie inhaftiert sind.

Je dois dire que c’est la chose la plus bizarre à faire en ce moment, mais je veux te remercier pour beaucoup de choses. Tu sais, on n’a pas été en contact depuis 126 jours (mais qui fait les comptes), et je ne vais pas te mentir, tu me manques. Tu me manques énormément. Tu vois ? Je compte même les jours ! C’est dire l’importance que tu as eue dans ma vie ! !! Et même si je ne veux plus de toi dans ma vie, il fut un temps où tu étais essentielle à ma survie. Nous avons traversé beaucoup de choses ensemble et, bien qu’il soit temps de te dire au revoir, je dois d’abord te remercier.

Je suis né au Nicaragua. Mes parents ont divorcé lorsque j’étais bébé. J’ai été élevé par mes grands-parents maternels à la campagne jusqu’à l’âge de 8 ans. Vers l’âge de 6 ou 7 ans, j’ai été abusé sexuellement par deux hommes adultes qui étaient mes voisins.

Pour moi, la luxure sexuelle a commencé par un simple jeu auquel je jouais avec le gamin d’à côté. Je n’aurais jamais imaginé qu’un tel jeu puisse devenir un « mode de vie ». Ma famille accordait plus d’attention à ma sœur, belle et intelligente, et pour attirer leur attention, j’ai commencé à les voler pour obtenir plus d’attention. Cela n’a pas fonctionné. Je ne savais pas comment dire : « Je suis là ! Regardez-moi ! Aimez-moi ! J’ai besoin que mon père me prenne dans ses bras ! »

J’ai pris contact avec un membre des SA en juin 2017 en réponse à son courriel envoyé deux mois auparavant, et j’ai su que j’avais un problème avec mon comportement compulsif. Au quotidien, je satisfaisais mes « besoins » comme un automate programmé pour effectuer des recherches répétitives. Je cherchais à combler le vide terrible que ma vie secrète cachait depuis des lustres.

Le chapitre du Livre blanc intitulé “La luxure – La force derrière la dépendance” est, à mon avis, une magnifique introduction aux fondements de ce qu’est réellement la luxure. Dans ce chapitre, Roy définit la luxure comme “une attitude exigeant qu’un instinct naturel serve des désirs contre-nature” (SA 40). C’est certainement ce que j’ai vécu.

L’un de nos amis détenus, Raphael S., qui a publié deux articles dans ESSAY au cours des deux dernières années, a lancé une réunion SA dans la prison d’État de Virginie. Il parraine un autre détenu. Il est important pour eux de faire partie de la fraternité bien qu’ils soient incarcérés.

Y’know, we haven’t been in contact now for like 126 days (but who’s counting), and I’m not gonna lie—I DO miss you. A whole lot. See? I even count the days! That’s how important you are were in my life!! And although I don’t want you in my life anymore, there was a time that you were crucial to my survival. We’ve been through a lot together and, although it’s time to say goodbye, I really must say thank you first.

For me, sexual lust started as a simple game that I played with the kid next door. I never imagined that such a game could develop into a “way of life.” My family paid more attention to my beautiful, smart sister, and to attract their attention, I started stealing from them to get more attention. This didn’t work. I didn’t know how to say, “I’m here! See me! Love me! I need my father to hold me!”

I reached out to an SA member in June 2017 in response to his email sent two months before, and I knew I had a problem with my compulsive behavior. On a daily basis, I was satisfying my “needs” like an automaton programmed to perform repetitive searches. I kept trying to fill the terrible emptiness that my secret life hid for ages.

The chapter in the White Book titled “Lust—The Force Behind the Addiction,” is, in my view, a magnificent introduction to the underpinnings of what lust is really all about. In that chapter Roy defines lust as “an attitude demanding that a natural instinct serve unnatural desires” (SA 40). That was certainly my experience.

One of our friends-in-prison, Raphael S., who has had two articles over the last couple of years in ESSAY, started an SA meeting in Virginia State Prison. He is sponsoring another fellow. It’s meaningful for them to be part of the fellowship although they are incarcerated.

I have been following a journey all my adult life toward what now, as a sober SA member, I think of as Step 1—and I am now almost 60. I am moved to write this article by The Real Connection reading for today, which at the time of writing is April 7. It describes a method of meditation which the writer felt could be useful to other members, that is, in silence paying attention to my breathing, and focusing on my breath as it goes in and out of my nose and mouth, letting go of my thoughts as they arise.

I attend the regular meetings of my home group every week, but currently, except for me, there are only male fellows there. However, as a “woman and a sexual minority,” I have been accepted into this group and feel like I belong and have a connection.
