Lorsque je suis rentré hier d’une convention locale de SA, je me sentais plutôt heureux, connecté et en paix – mais pas complètement. La présence d’un camarade avait troublé ma sérénité à tel point que j’avais lutté pour ne pas être obsédé par lui et son comportement pendant tout le week-end.

Antes de entrar en SA, no creía que la lujuria fuera un gran problema para mí. Me había masturbado toda mi vida, a veces usando pornografía. Me comportaba mal con otros hombres de cuatro a seis veces al mes. Estaba viviendo lo que pensé que era una doble vida exitosa: por un lado, un educador, padre, esposo y líder de la iglesia exitoso, y por el otro un adicto al sexo comprometido. Podría apoyarme en los factores estresantes de la carrera, la familia o la iglesia, y parecer a los demás como un líder sabio y valiente. Pero más tarde, aliviaría la presión emocional actuando sexualmente. Excepto por la culpa y la vergüenza onerosas, el patrón parecía estar funcionando.

Mi padrino y los miembros de mi grupo base de habla inglesa me sugirieron que hiciera una lista de las cosas por las que estoy agradecido en mi sobriedad de SA. Probablemente no pudieron soportar más mis quejas, por lo que quizás lo sugirieron, con la intención de que me callara un poco.

Este es uno de los lemas del programa que se me quedó grabado después de asistir a mi primera reunión virtual de SA aquí en Filipinas. Tenía miedo y dudaba en asistir a una reunión de SA porque estaba en negación y dudaba que fuera un adicto al sexo, pero aun así me obligué a asistir a esa reunión porque tenía miedo de perder a mi esposa e hijos.

Cuando volví ayer a casa de una convención local de SA, me sentía razonablemente feliz, conectado y en paz, aunque no del todo. La presencia de un compañero perturbó mi serenidad hasta tal punto, que estuve luchando con la obsesión hacia él y su comportamiento a lo largo de todo el fin de semana. Es más, hace tres meses cuando escuché que se había registrado, ya sentí miedo y perturbación.

Tengo una gran historia con los lemas, se podría decir que me han salvado la vida. Al principio de la recuperación de AA, mi grupo base era de la “vieja escuela”, no se comparte en las reuniones hasta que tengas 1 año de sobriedad. (Solo podíamos hacer preguntas).

Me encantan los eslóganes. Para mi cerebro confundido con la memoria de pez dorado, son concisos, fáciles de recordar y cuando recibo la voluntad, puedo accionar. Hay tantos que vienen fácilmente a la mente, como “Un día a la vez”, “Buena dirección ordenada”, (GOD, DIOS en inglés), “Déjalo ir y déjaselo a Dios” y “Tómalo con calma”.

At the end of 2013, at a meeting of another S-fellowship, we came across an SA article entitled, “THE ADDICT AND HIS FEAR OF DEATH.” It impressed us a lot.

Every ten years, the SA Board of Trustees initiates a census of SA meetings. The primary purpose of this census is to ensure the fair representation of meetings in the General Delegate Assembly (GDA) across the various Regions in our fellowship. It also highlights how the Fellowship has changed and grown since the prior census.

For me, recovery means that my worst day today is better than my best day in my insanity. What does that mean? It doesn’t sound rational.

I have a wonderful wife and three kids. I love stories. I love surfing. I am a long-time volunteer who contributes to the community. I absolutely love life and live it to the fullest.

Hi, I am writing this story for all the members who are not part of the crowd in SA. I want you to know that you’re welcome too in SA. There is a place for everyone in SA.

I used to love philosophy and intellectuality, hiding behind wise quotes so that I would impress women, get them to lust after me, and impress men so that I would be accepted. This all derives from low self-esteem of course.

According to Tradition Three, I simply need to stop all my addictive thoughts and behavior in order to be part of this happy clan! However, as I grow in recovery, I feel it is more and more about emotional sobriety as well as sexual sobriety.

I was just reading an article or two from ESSAY and I was moved to write about an experience that I had a few weeks ago. An experience and healing that would not have taken place without being a member of SA.
